In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross-examines.
– Proverbs 18:17 (NIV)

Today's commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org Author of Making Sense of the Bible

The Scripture places a high value on getting different perspectives when we deal with conflict. We need to listen to each other with compassionate ears yet at the same time realize that each story has another side to it. Our ability to keep this tension is key in discerning a path forward when people clash in life.

Psalm 100: 4

"Beware of the false prophets! They come to you wearing sheep's clothing, but underneath they are hungry wolves! You will recognize them by their fruit. Can people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
Matthew 7: 15-16 Complete Jewish Bible

Dear friends, don't trust every spirit. On the contrary, test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
]1 John 4:1 Complete Jewish Bible
